Sunset by the Old White Pine
Taken in the spring of2017 from the approach to Nat’s Bridge on the north end of Crystal Lake. Unfortunately, this massive pine and the surrounding rocks were sacrificed for the new, replacement to Nat’s Bridge.

Moonrise Over Crystal Lake
This moonrise fought with the clouds back in late August of 2013. This is a relatively “soft” image which I think adds to the atmosphere. I do recall there being a lot of party noise this evening, something that disappeared with the Labor Day weekend.
Sunrise on Crystal Lake
I clearly remember thinking what a perfect scene this was when I took it
back in late August of 2013. The season was quickly coming to a close and these two old style metal chairs, turned upside down seemed to tell the season’s end story very clearly.
Missed!
A double lightning strike at Potter’s Farm generated a little excitement in me when it happened. I was storm chasing and knew the radio antenna in the upper field would naturally attract lightning. So there I stood in a puddle of rain water just waiting for the strike and hoping it would not be real close to where I stood.
The Golden Hour
The hour before sunset is known as the Golden Hour. Shadows are long, colors are somewhat saturated and overall, most scenes are improved by the low angle of the light. This shot was obviously taken at the close of the golden hour from the north end of Crystal Lake.
Crystal Lake at Dusk
Taken from high up on the east side of Crystal Lake, the calm waters produced a mirror image of the evening
sky at sunset.

August Sunset #3
A hot, humid, mid-August day ended in a classic sunset of red, salmon, blue and green. Taken from atop Frisky Hill on Rt 107.
August Sunset #2
Shot moments before the above image while the colors were more intense.
After the Sunset
The intent was to capture a nice, colorful sunset from the Crystal Lake headwater by Nat’s Bridge. The color never materialized but I still managed to come away with some color in the trees.
An early morning storm passed through the area before dawn. While I was pouring my coffee I noticed what appeared to be fog in the back yard but it was moving like a cloud. I ran up the hill to capture this image of the fog rising out of the forest.
Clouds over Rollin’s Pond
September can bring some great clouds to New England. Add to that a still pond, a few wild flowers and you’ve got yourself a picture
