Sunflower at My Deck

We planted several varieties of sunflowers this year. Most of them turned out to be feed for the local deer population. The few that were planted closer to the house have survive the deer onslaught and a just now, close to mid-September, starting to flower. This six inch diameter blossom is the first to pop open and, standing about seven feet tall, was tall enough to just clear the railing.
