Moonrise at Whaleback Light
August 1, 2015 - A moonrise over the ocean is almost always a memorable night, especially if you don't live right on the coast and have to travel. I recall this August night being muggy and buggy. The humidity, even along the coast brought out a surplus of mosquitoes and gnats making focusing on "getting the shot" difficult. And I was not the only one there. The day's heat brought many car loads of people to the coast. My wife came with me on this trip and quickly retreated to the car once the bugs found her.
But the moonrise was worth it. Capturing this image with Whaleback Lighthouse on the right and the red channel marker to it's left, and of course the main event, the moon working its way through the low cloud cover.
To the right of Whaleback Light you can see White Island Lighthouse's beacon out on the Isle of Shoals.
