A Winter’s Dusk on Meredith Bay

On December 16, 2023, the sunset was at 4:09 PM. Around three that afternoon, I was working on color calibrating my printers when I suddenly realized I had an opportunity to capture a sunset. A quick check of the weather and cloud maps and it looked better than average that we might have a very red sunset.

I quickly gathered my gear, climbed in the car and started the 23-mile journey to Meredith, New Hampshire. Arriving in plenty of time, I sought a composition from across the bay so that I might capture not only the sunset but its reflection in the calm waters of Lake Winnipesaukee.

The "burner" of a sunset never quite materialized. That does not mean I wasn't pleased with the color received. The color I did get to photograph lends itself to a "painterly" atmosphere over this very quaint and popular New Hampshire village.

A Winter’s Dusk on Meredith Bay is a limited edition series available as a print on Epson Metallic Luster, as a metal print, as an acrylic print or as a print on stretched canvas. Only 25 prints will be released.

This image is offered in a 2:1 aspect ratio and is available in the following sizes:
28”x 14” / 36”x 18” / 48”x24”

Though the bright colors of the sunset may have caught your attention, the darker overall tonality of this image bright rooms with indirect sunlight. Other options include walls illuminated with track or focused can lights or a classic picture light mounted above.

All prints are made using pigmented inks which will last for generations with proper care. As with all art, keep it out of direct sunlight.
